June Hunt's Perfectionism

Perfectionism [June Hunt Hope For The Heart Series] - Download OnlyAfter reviewing 5 of June Hunt’s pamphlets, this is the first time I have not agreed wholeheartedly with her assessment. “Perfectionism” seemed to veer into the psychological realm of OCD and even shares the Three-Pronged Treatment for OCD from www.webmd.com. I will admit that I have a bit of the “Martha, Martha complex,” motivated to please by serving instead of sitting at Jesus’ feet. The checklist on page 30 did point out that I have pockets of perfectionism. However, the chart comparing the Perfection and Excellence indicated that I desire excellence in my ministry and my coworkers. The overstated reasoning that parents are very much to blame comes in the illustration depicting the rearing of John Quincy Adams pp.44-57. As a parent I do understand our extreme expectations can bring distress and fear of failure in the lives of our children, but in my opinion Hunt has overused secular resources to supply much of the conclusions. The chart on page 69-70 to target tendencies toward perfectionism is oversimplified. Some of my homeless clients who have no high personal standards could easily answer YES to every question. Rose Publishing supplied this resource for my unbiased review.
